Field Trade / Non-trade
To keep the power on to more than 800,000 customers across 95 per cent of NSW, we need to ensure we have enough trades people to maintain our network. Our diverse climates and landscapes provide our employees with challenging and rewarding careers, such as:
As a qualified powerline worker you will work on overhead and underground lines to build, improve and maintain the poles and wires that deliver electricity to our customers. A powerline worker will also respond to emergency work, as well as planned and unplanned supply interruptions.
As a qualified electrical technician you will work on the transmission and distribution system performing maintenance, construction, inspection and operation of associated equipment. Electrical technicians will also respond to emergency work, as well as planned and unplanned supply interruptions.
As a qualified cable jointer you will work with both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) distribution network assets and equipment and are responsible for those components directly related to the underground network. Cable jointers will also respond to emergency work, as well as planned and unplanned supply interruptions.
Electrical Workers assist the qualified trades people in the field with the installation, construction and maintenance of our overhead, underground, distribution, transmission, gas, water and telecommunication infrastructures. They deliver resources and materials as required and operate related plant and equipment.
Electrical Workers require a current drivers licence and WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate. They will also have or attain other regulatory, industry and business required licences, authorisations and certificates appropriate for the role such as:
