Essential Energy's Regulatory Proposal 2014-19
Every five years, we submit a regulatory proposal to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER), which includes our proposed capital and operating plans and the funding needed to deliver them. On 30 April 2015, the AER handed down its final determination on Essential Energy's revenues for 2014-19. This determination included the 2014-14 financial year, in which the AER had previously handed down a transitional determination.
The significant reductions contained within the AER's final determination, applied retrospectively and throughout the regulatory period, present many challenges and will have substantial impacts on Essential Energy's operations during the current regulatory period and beyond.
On 21 May 2015, Essential Energy announced a decision to appeal some elements of the AER's final determination in the Australian Competition Tribunal and Federal Court. The outcome of these appeals is expected in late November.
