Maps showing the general location of our electricity network are available upon request for individuals and companies involved in activities including:

  • Aerial spraying, aerial mapping, aerial inspections.
  • Leisure activities such as hot air ballooning, gliding or parachuting.
  • General aviation.
  • Farming and agricultural activities.
  • General water activities on waterways in Essential Energy’s area of operation.

Line heights

The height of overhead electricity lines vary significantly with changing topology. Electricity lines across gorges and valleys vary from less than 12 metres above ground level to hundreds of metres above valley floors.

Powerline Markers

It is recommended property owners mark powerlines to increase their visibility and help prevent incidents occurring. We can install the markers at a reasonable cost.

SafeWork NSW Small business rebate for the purchase cost of the powerline marker
SafeWork NSW also offer rebates to small businesses and sole traders in NSW who buy and install equipment that makes their workplace safer. You may be eligible to claim up to $1000 of the purchase cost of the powerline markers back via the SafeWork NSW small business rebate (installation cost is not included in this rebate).

Safety Sessions

We can arrange safety sessions for recreational and general aviation pilots to raise awareness about operational safety when below minimum flight level 500’ in areas where there are powerlines. These sessions are generally free of charge. If you would like to arrange an awareness session, contact our Public Safety team on 132391.
