Zone substation reports

Essential Energy

Essential Energy can provide individuals or businesses with raw historical load data for specific zone substations, upon request at a cost of $110 (including GST). This cost applies to both yearly reports and ten-year reports.

Information will only be provided when Essential Energy deems the request as reasonable, information is available and data is not confidential or commercially sensitive.

Data is collated for a yearly period from 1 October to 30 September - for example – 1 October 2012 to 21 September 2013.

You can find zone substation names in Essential Energy's Distribution Annual Planning Report.

The available datasets are updated by 31 December each year.

Your acknowledgments
By requesting historical zone substation data, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • any zone substation information provided by Essential Energy is raw data and Essential Energy has not analysed, assessed or validated the quality or accuracy of that data; and
  • Essential Energy makes no warranty or guarantee as to the quality, accuracy or suitability for any particular purpose of the zone substation information.
Requesting data
To make a request for this data, please email zonesubreports@essentialenergy.com.au with the specific zone substation name and advise whether you require data for one year or ten years.

Essential Energy will respond with a summary of the available data, the measurements available (generally MW at a minimum) and will confirm the fee for providing this service should you choose to receive the data.

Please note that the fee charged for this service covers the costs of manually retrieving, collating and making available the data requested. Essential Energy will review this fee as the process is refined and automated.

Once confirmation of your request to continue has been received, Essential Energy will issue an invoice and begin the data collation. As per the National Electricity Rules, the Zone Substation report will be sent out within 30 business days, provided full payment has been received.

Data will be available in .csv format and may be sent by email, made available by download or sent by post at Essential Energy's discretion.

Further information
If you require any further information with regard to zone substation data, believe you have received a dataset with substantial errors or omissions, or would like to provide any other feedback including how the data is being used by your organisation, please email zonesubreports@essentialenergy.com.au.
